Inspired by The Macallan’s deep-rooted connection to nature for nearly 200 years, The Macallan Harmony Collection is a limited annual release series that explores their future packaging journey. Each release unveils distinctive and innovative packaging that seeks to bring new life to organic by-products which have ended their usual course. It fuses innovative techniques with materials from the natural world at the end of their life to see them reborn with a renewed purpose.
Each year, Macallan launched 2 limited-release expressions - 1 of which was made available through retail and the other exclusively as a "travel exclusive" (ie, only via Duty Free stores).
HARMONY RELEASE I
Continuing The Macallan’s long-standing partnership with the Roca brothers, this is a collaboration with Jordi Roca to bring the worlds of chocolate and whisky to life in Casa Cacao, a hotel and chocolate factory in central Girona, Spain. The Macallan Whisky Maker Polly Logan took inspiration from her time at Casa Cacao to create single malts with indulgent chocolate notes.
The innovative packaging for the bottles in this release were made from, and gave new life to, discarded cacao husks.
This saw the release of the first two expressions in the Harmony Collection, namely:
- Rich Cacao, and
- Fine Cacao
HARMONY Release II
The second release in this innovative collection embarks on a sensorial journey through the wonderful world of coffee, drawing on the skill and expertise of five coffee experts. The Macallan Whisky Maker Steven Bremner created two whiskies with a distinct coffee note, creating a delightful coffee and whisky pairing experience.
The innovative packaging for the bottles in this release were made from, and gave new life to, discarded coffee bean husks.
These two expressions, inspired by coffee, were:
- Intense Arabica, and
- Smooth Arabica
HARMONY Release III
The third release in the Harmony Collection has been created in collaboration with Stella and Mary McCartney to celebrate the lush, fertile lands of Scotland that connect all those who have stood upon them for generations.
The innovative packaging for the bottles in this release were made from, and gave new life to, discarded meadow cuttings.
