Actor Nick Offerman is probably most famous for his portrayal of Ron Swanson in NBC's show, Parks and Recreation. Ron Swanson loved woodworking, steak and Lagavulin whisky and he even visited the Lagavulin distillery in the two-part opening episode of the show's 6th series. In the show's finale, Ron purchased a stake in Lagavulin Distillery (which in reality is owned by DIAGEO).

Following the series, Nick Offerman appeared in several commercials for Lagavulin and in 2019, Lagavulin released the first Offerman Edition, a bottling aged 11 years that had a peat flavor even more pronounced than the brand’s flagship 16-year-old whisky.

Since then, he has collaborated on a Guinness-finished 11-year-old expression, which was released in 2021 and named Whisky of the Year by Whisky Advocate, and a Charred Oak Cask expression, making use of heavily charred American and European oak casks, and meant to be paired with steak — medium rare (the way God intended, according to Offerman).

His latest collaboration, the Lagavulin Offerman Edition Caribbean Rum Cask Finish, is once again an 11-year-old whisky aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, before being finished in rum casks over the course of eight months. In 2022, Offerman had been in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic shooting the eight-episode Peacock series The Resort when the inspiration hit.
